Dental implants in Naples

An implant replaces the root of a missing tooth with a small post set in the jaw. Once the bone heals around it, the post holds a porcelain crown.

Who is a candidate

An implant needs enough healthy bone to hold it and healthy gums around it. Smoking, uncontrolled diabetes and some medicines can slow healing, so we review your health history first. If bone is short, a bone graft may come first.

Planned, placed, then healed

A 3D scan shows the bone and where the nerves and sinus sit, and Dr. Achterberg plans the position on it. Placing the implant takes one visit, usually with local numbing. The bone then heals for a few months before Dr. Corwen fits the crown.

Implant, bridge or partial denture

Three dental models side by side: a bridge, a partial denture and an implant crown

A bridge fills a gap by crowning the teeth on each side. A partial denture is removable and costs less. An implant leaves the neighboring teeth untouched. We go through all three and their costs with you.

Questions about dental implants

Does getting an implant hurt?

Most patients have it placed with local numbing, as for a filling. Expect some soreness for a few days. We tell you what to take and what to eat.

How long does an implant last?

With good brushing, cleanings and checks, an implant can last many years. The crown on top may wear and need replacing. Smoking and gum disease raise the risk of problems.

Does insurance cover implants?

Some plans pay part of an implant or its crown, often up to the plan's yearly maximum. We check your plan and give you the numbers in writing first.
